Teachers Using Google Meet for Live Lessons

Dear 5th and 6th Grade Parents,

I pray this email finds you healthy and hunkering down at home. As we move into our first full week of distance learning, we are very ready to see our students and interact with them face-to-face. This week we will be using Google Meet to meet with students in shortened sessions. Initially, we will prioritize helping the boys understand Google Meet features, take a moment for social interaction, troubleshoot any technology or curricular issues, and provide a bit of instruction. As the week progresses, our focus will become more instructional.

Our teachers will be sharing the weekly Google Meet schedule with you and your sons. It is our expectation that your son will be joining online for these meetings. However, we also know that unexpected issues may pop up preventing your son from joining a class session. With this in mind, we are recording each session and will provide instructions on how to access these videos. Classroom teachers will initiate each session, and only students or adults within the PDS organization will have access to the live session and archived recordings.

While we anticipate the Google Meet sessions moving forward without a hitch, we also know the demands being placed on all of our networks during this time of distance learning. If you have any technology needs, please reach out to the PDS tech department at pdstech@pdsmemphis.org.

PDS teachers are excited to “see” your boys this week!

All the best,

Laura Glenn
