John Hunter, an elementary school teacher in Albemarle County Schools outside of Charlottesville, Virginia, believes they can solve world peace and other world problems. Hunter believes fourth grade students are capable of much more than we usually ask of them. He believe they are wise and tuned in to the world in ways we don't acknowledge and leverage in the classroom. Through his innovative teaching and a game he has developed, Hunter takes a classroom full of neighborhood children and helps them develop the strategic understanding and problem-solving skills of true world citizens.
We ended last week with a fun trip to Cornerstone school Friday where we were able to meet some new friends and read some great books together.
The new letter for this week is “Ii” and the sight words are “am”, “who”, “they”, and “of”.
The boys are doing so well with their sight words. Please work with them nightly.
Our math unit will include working with a number line, an introduction to the calculator, and a roll & record game with two dice. The boys are enjoying the study of leaves in the new science unit and we will continue to study why and how leaves change color.
Our classes will also be busy with wonderful Native American and Thanksgiving activities over the next few weeks.
All parents are invited to our Thanksgiving Feast on Monday November 21st from 12:30-2:00.
Thanksgiving Break will be November 23rd -25th.
PDS Admissions Open House: November 15th at 9am & 6pm or November 17th at 9am
