Monday, 20 May 2013 -Just a reminder to all JK parents that we will have our end of the year bowling party tomorrow (Tuesday) from 10-11 at Cordova Bowling Lanes. Please remember an adult needs to attend with your son!
We have had such a wonderful year in JK! We hope that you and your family have a great summer. We have loved getting to know all of the boys this year! We wish them the very best as they transition into SK!!
We love our Mommies!!!
Saturday, 11 May 2013 -What a special week in JK! The Mother's Day Tea was wonderful! We hope that you enjoyed your time with your son and hope that you will treasure this special day forever!
Since we are getting very close to the end of the school year, we are reviewing a lot of our skills that we have been learning all year. We have been reviewing letters, letter sounds, math skills and handwriting! We have even introduced color words. Next week we will have 5 themed days to celebrate our last full week of school. Monday will be Awesome Artist Day, Tuesday will be will be Books and Buddies Day (the boys can bring their favorite book to share), Wednesday will be Techie Wednesday, Thursday will be Games Galore, and Friday will be Tidy Friday! Please send in a large, shopping sack with a handle for Tidy Friday. All of the boys work will be coming home!
We also are looking forward to our JK Bowling Party on Tuesday, May 21st at Cordova Bowling Lanes. The party will be from 10:00-11:00. Our last day will be Wednesday, May 22nd and there is a half-day dismissal!
We hope you have a great weekend!
A Zany week in JK!!
Monday, 06 May 2013 -Wow! Where has this year gone? We cannot believe it is already May! This week we began preparing for our Mother’s Day Tea. The boys are looking forward to such a special day! We hope that all of our JK mothers will join us this Friday! It will be a special memory you will never forget!
This week we also learned our last letter of the alphabet, Z! We continued learning how to tell time to the hour. For the letter Z, we made our zebra letter card and practiced our handwriting. The boys did a great job finding creative z objects to feed Maggie and we bid her farewell for the summer. For telling time, we have been playing a lot of games that match the analogue time to the digital time and have practiced writing digital time as well. A favorite this week was hiding “Little Mouse” behind different clocks and the boys guessing which clock he was behind. Next week we will focus on vowel review and will introduce color words. We have had another great week in JK!
Please make sure to check our page on the website to download the May calendar!

We love dinosaurs!
Sunday, 28 April 2013 -Wow! What an exciting week! Thank you to all of our parents for coming to EC Family Night! The boys worked so hard the past couple of weeks preparing the Mesozoic Museum tour! We are very proud of them!
This week we finished up our dinosaur unit focusing on paleontology! We went on a virtual paleontology excursion on www.alfmuseum.org. During the excursion, the boys traveled from California to Utah and had to follow all of the steps a real paleontologist would follow while looking for dinosaur fossils. The steps included the beginning of an excavation all the way to submitting the information and fossils to a museum. Two favorite activities this week were excavating a chocolate chip cookie and the dino dig! Using a toothpick, the boys had to excavate chocolate chips from a cookie, just as a paleontologist removes fossils from hard rock and dirt. For the dino dig, the boys followed big dinosaur footprints to the rock playground near the elementary building. The boys had fun searching for bones in the rocks! After finding the bones, they used all of their tools to investigate, measure the bones, and brush away dirt from the bones. We concluded our week with a very special treat! We Skyped with a real paleontologist in Argentina! He was able to tell us about dinosaurs that used to live in Argentina, such as the Argentinosaurus, the biggest dinosaur in the world! The boys loved being able to share what they have learned!
We also have started learning to tell time to the hour in JK! We introduced the analogue clock to the boys and discussed the short hand and the long hand. After watching a BrainPop Jr. video clip, we also learned how to write time to the hour and how time may appear on a digital clock. We are looking forward to another fun week of learning to tell time!
Thanks to all of our parents for supporting the Fun Run this week as well! We appreciate you taking the time to help get pledges! They had a fun filled day of running and super heroes!
