Wifi work stations are scattered around a large room. Boys of all ages are working individually or in groups. Some are sprawled across vinyl-upholstered cubes, others are lounging in black rubber "bungee chairs." At one station, Philip Wunderlich, 12, is Skyping with a virtual tutor so familiar, he calls him Uncle Mark.

Presbyterian Day School's recent announcement about PDS and The Martin Institute for Teaching Excellence being selected to host the Harvard Graduate School of Education's Project Zero Conference in 2014 was featured in today's Commercial Appeal:

Harvard partners with Presbyterian Day School to offer conference in Memphis

Harvard University will be conducting a teacher-training conference at Presbyterian Day School next winter, focused on the work of Project Zero, a research team in the university's graduate school of education.

"A lot of work is done with schools, but also museums and other nontraditional sites of learning," said Project Zero education coordinator Jim Reese. "We're looking at how do you think creatively and push thinking to a new level."

Project Zero, based at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and recognized as one of the world’s leading professional development programs for educators, is coming to Memphis next year, February 13-15, 2014. The conference will be at Presbyterian Day School and is presented by the Center for the Advancement and Study of International Education (CASIE).

 

Educators from around the world are expected to attend the conference and join local educators as they learn from some of the world’s leading researchers, thinkers and authors in the field of education.
