Checkout Books from the PDS Library This Summer

The PDS library is excited to announce that we will now be electronically checking out books again! Please use this form to request a book.

Book Request Form

Save the Form to Your Phone Homescreen

iPhone | Android

Each student may request up to three books at a time. We recommend that you use the Alexandria Scout website to browse through our offerings. Here is a video demonstrating how to use the site.

You will receive an email when the book(s) are ready to be picked up at the main lobby’s front desk, Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:30 am and 2:30 pm. If a book is unavailable you will also be emailed that information. You may then reply to that email asking to be placed on a waiting list. Please note that you will not be automatically placed on a waiting list.

Picking Up Books

Due to COVID-19, we ask that you follow our guidelines for entering the main lobby. Please always wear a mask. One person may enter (if possible), return or retrieve the book(s), and then leave. We are keeping the number of people in the main lobby to a minimum. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Returning Books

To return library books, please visit the main lobby where you will see a bin labeled “Return Library Books Here.”

Please note that PDS will be closed Friday, July 3rd, and Monday, July 6th, for the Fourth of July holiday.

If you have any questions, please contact Melissa Smith at msmith@pdsmemphis.org.

AR Testing from Home - Updated URL

PDS upgraded the Renaissance program the last week of May, and AR is now open for students to take tests from home.

The update has given us a new URL (web address) and looks a bit different. You may still use the link in your son's summer work folder to access AR, but it will redirect you to our new AR website.

All AR links found on the PDS website take you directly to the new Renaissance URL. The video below shows how to find the AR links on the PDS website, find the total points your son has earned this summer, and see results on individual tests.

Wednesday, 9am: Zoom session for your son.

Dear 3rd grade parents,

Tomorrow, at 9 am, we will be hosting small group Zoom meetings with your son to make sure that his Zoom application successfully connects. Later today, you and your son will receive an email from your son's Zoom small group facilitator. It will contain a link to tomorrow morning's meeting. Please have your son use his PDS laptop, access his PDS Gmail, and click the meeting link to launch the app. If you have trouble connecting, please email the small group facilitator that he had issues, and we will be in touch.

Please use the below videos to learn how your son will activate his PDS Zoom account and then connect with his Zoom meetings.

Video 1:  Signing up for Zoom. (Please make sure that your son is using the Chrome web browser and that he is signed in to his PDS Google account.)

Video 2:  Accessing Wednesday's zoom meeting through an email invitation.

How We are Utilizing Web Meeting Software

You may have seen some stories in the news about some issues with online meeting software. At PDS, we take the online safety and security of our family seriously, and we want to keep you updated on how we are using these tools. We believe it is important for us to provide opportunities for your sons to see and connect with their teachers and classmates; therefore, we have implemented two tools for this purpose!

Important Changes to Internet Filtering on JK iPads

Dear JK Parents,

In order to continue using educational YouTube videos to support teaching and learning, YouTube is now unblocked on your son’s JK PDS iPad. I wanted you to be aware of this so that you do not allow your son free time to look through YouTube videos not assigned by his teachers. Please contact me at pdstech@pdsmemphis.org if you experience any issues.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

Important Changes to Internet Filtering on SK-2nd Grade iPads

Dear SK–2nd Grade Parents,

The PDS Technology Department has removed the Captive Portal from your son’s PDS iPad. You will no longer have to log in to that site. By the end of Wednesday, these devices will now be filtered through Relay.

In order to continue using educational YouTube videos to support teaching and learning, all of YouTube is unblocked. We wanted you to be aware of this so that you do not allow your son free time to look through YouTube videos not assigned by his teachers. Please contact me at pdstech@pdsmemphis.org if you experience any issues.

Thank you for your support and understanding.
