Strengthening Bonds: Building Connectedness in Grade 6 Boys Through Service Learning


Several PDS teachers and administrators traveled to the 2025 International Boys’ School Coalition (IBSC) annual conference, Better Together, hosted at Belmont Hill School in Boston. As part of the conference, Fifth and Sixth Grade science teacher Jackson Boyd shared findings from his two-year IBSC Action Research project, Strengthening Bonds: Building Connectedness in Grade 6 Boys Through Service Learning.

In the final report, Jackson explores how intentional service-learning experiences can deepen relationships, strengthen a sense of belonging, and help boys feel more connected to one another and to their school community. Read the full report using the PDF link below.
