Lice Report in First Grade

Lice Report in First Grade

‍

‍Dear First-Grade Parents,

This email is to inform you that a case of head lice, pediculosis, has been reported in first grade.

Don’t panic! It can happen to anyone, anywhere.  As you may know, it is highly communicable.  It can be spread by direct contact from an infested person by using the personal items of others such as combs, towels, brushes, and by wearing the clothing of others, especially hats.

You can help us stop this pest by checking your son’s head if you notice scratching from persistent itching. You may see the lice or small silvery egg cases attached to the base of individual hairs.  If you find lice on your son’s head, you should consult your physician for advice on treatment. Your son may come back to school when he is lice and nit free. He will need to stop by the nurse’s office on his way into school before heading to the classroom. Please take precautions to clean clothing, hats, pillows, and bedding.

Your understanding and cooperation in this matter is appreciated.

Sincerely,

Laura Glenn
