Welcome to the very first edition of the Center for Educational Growth newsletter. In each edition, you can expect practical insights, thoughtful research, and meaningful ideas designed to help set boys up for success. At its heart, the Center for Educational Growth exists to reflect on the practices that help boys learn best, to explore new ideas with purpose, and to thoughtfully implement approaches that strengthen the experience of every PDS student, teacher, and parent. It is also a place to recognize the many resources, talents, and partnerships that enrich our work and inspire continued growth. We hope this becomes a window into the thoughtful work underway as we continue to help boys grow academically, socially, and emotionally. |
| | | ‍As we move into the summer months, we are especially mindful of the natural “summer learning slide” that can occur when routines shift and school is not in session. With this in mind, here are ten practical, research-informed ideas to support families at home—simple ways to keep curiosity alive, strengthen habits of reading and movement, and encourage meaningful connection throughout the summer season. | | |
| RESOURCE Parent Resource Page We've created an intentional resource page for parents within the Center for Educational Growth section of the PDS website—sharing insights, research, and accessible tools to support learning at home this summer and beyond. | |

| PARENT EVENT Cultivating Learning Readiness in Your Son | ‍Author Heidi Tringali Visiting PDS This Fall
Many of the learning readiness ideas shared through this particular newsletter have been shaped and informed by the work of Heidi Tringali, occupational therapist, speaker and writer from Charlotte, NC. Her insights have helped deepen our understanding of how children develop the foundational skills for school and life. We are pleased to share that Heidi will be visiting PDS in the fall to foster important conversations with parents around learning readiness and child development, including her new book, The Readied Child, which further guides and extends this important work. |
