Parents' Association Events and Volunteer Opportunities

We hope that you will take this opportunity to familiarize yourself with our upcoming events, mark them on your calendar, and use the Volunteer Form to plug yourself in. Rest assured, a committee member will contact you for your help as the event date approaches.

Volunteer Opportunities

Accelerated Reader Auction (Chair – Brooke Justice, Vice-Chair – Sultana Ali) Volunteers are needed to assist with trimester prize distribution, to collect prizes and assist in distribution for the AR Auction and AR Store (scheduled for April 20, 27, and 28, 2027).

Annual Fund Volunteers will work with the Advancement Office to help with Annual Fund calls.

Art Appreciation (Chair – Lauren Stone, Vice-Chair – Kaci Turner) Volunteers will work with the PDS art department helping with general projects, art show, and Artsonia.

Band Support (Chair – Amy Thakkar, Vice-Chair – TBD) Volunteers will provide support to the band program and facilitate band performances throughout the year.

Berclair Elementary School Partnership (Chair – Komal Noordin, Vice-Chair – Ana Labagnara) Volunteers are needed to gather/deliver school supplies throughout the school year, help with Read for the Record, and the Angel Tree project.

Book Fair (Chair – Lexis Zellner, Vice-Chair – Loren Lancaster) Volunteers are needed to help with all aspects of Book Fair – set up/take down, sales and teacher wish list tables, etc. Scheduled for October 13–15, 2026.

Community Rewards (Chair – Samantha Wallace, Vice-Chair – Teresa Daniel) Volunteers are needed to assist in promoting the various community rewards programs and events throughout the year (i.e. Boxtops, Kroger, Spirit Nights, etc.).

Crusaders Care (Chair – Lesley Hansford, Vice Chair – Sarah Mercer) Volunteers are needed to help provide meals, prayers, and support to PDS families going through a difficult time due to accident, illness, or injury.

Faculty Appreciation (Chair – Lisa Shin, Vice-Chair – Rachel Hemphill) Volunteers are needed to help provide food and set up for 1–2 special lunches, and a coffee bar breakfast for the PDS faculty and staff.

Father/Son Event (Chair – Chantall Jenkins, Vice-Chair – Eleanore Maynard) Volunteers are needed to assist on the day of this dinner for 4th–6th grade boys and their fathers. This event is currently scheduled for Thursday, February 18, 2027.

Grandparents’ Day Volunteers are needed to help set up, serve as hostesses, greeters, and ushers for Grandparents’ Day. Due to space limitations, parents are unable to attend unless they are volunteers that day. The event will be held on Friday, October 30.

Hospitality (Chair – Casey Gleysteen, Vice-Chair – Tori Shadrach) Volunteers are needed to serve and/or provide food and drinks for various school events.

Library (Chair – Sarah Murphy, Vice-Chair – Veronica McCollum) Volunteers are needed to provide additional help in the library with processing books, AR searches, birthday books and other general library duties.

March Mania Auction (Chair – Jeannifer Lara, Vice-Chair – Brittney Haynie) Volunteers are needed to coordinate grade-level auction items, brainstorm new auction ideas, solicit and pick up auction donations from the community, communicate auction happenings with your grade-level, and more.

PDS Spirit Store (Chair – Allie Baty, Vice-Chair – Curry Blanton) Volunteers are needed to work in the PDS Spirit Store during various shifts when the spirit store is open. Typically Tuesdays 7:45–9:00 a.m. and Thursdays 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., along with special events. Volunteers can select the days/times they are available through a sign-up genius.

Sixth Grade Mother/Son Luncheon (Chair – Catherine Erb, Vice-Chair – Allison Bragg) Volunteers are needed to assist in hosting (set-up/clean up, registration, etc). This luncheon for 6th grade boys and mothers is currently scheduled for Friday, April 19, 2027.
