What does the future of K-12 education look like? How can we prepare students for their future and not our past?
At Presbyterian Day School, we're not just asking that question, we're working on answering it by leading the way with an innovative approach to elementary education.
Our mission statement is the same as it was in 1949:
Presbyterian Day School strives to glorify God by developing boys in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man
Whether they are learning to draw, play an instrument, or shoot a basketball, boys love the hands-on, active, creative approach that we offer at PDS.
Dear PDS Parents,
As we open another academic year, there is a sense of déjà vu. The most recent variant of COVID-19, the Delta Variant, continues to spread, and we have watched as cases have risen steadily in the past few weeks. I am sure you have heard by now that the Centers for Disease Control and the American Pediatric Association are recommending masking indoors to reduce transmission. The Shelby County Health Department issued a countywide mask mandate for all children, faculty, staff, and visitors to school buildings effective today.
Your son's health is a priority for PDS. We will continue to monitor medical and professional experts' information and guidelines or requirements provided by local, state, and federal government offices and agencies. Our primary goal in starting this year is to avoid disruption. We desire to have the boys on campus with their peers, learning, collaborating, being very active, and having fun.
PDS will begin this year with universal masking indoors. Last year, our dedicated 'COVID-19' webpage was a one-stop shop to find information related to health protocols and frequently asked questions. We will continue to use this same method. We have included the link here, but you can navigate to the information by finding it on the top menu on our website. As you read through our protocols, please do not hesitate to email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you have a question not answered in the FAQs. We will gladly answer and update it for all to read.
Thank you for being so supportive through this ever-changing landscape of educating through a pandemic. It is an honor to partner with you in your son’s academic and spiritual formation. I'm eager to hear the noise of the boys’ excitement and energy filling the halls, and we’re ready to welcome your son to campus!
Sincerely,
Brad Sewell
Head of School
