First Lego League - Robotics

First Lego League - Robotics 5th Grade 6th Grade

The First Lego League allows 5th and 6th graders to design, build, and program a Lego Prime robot to complete “missions” on a table-top playing field. In addition, each team will research and present on a real-world problem and solution according to the competition theme of the year.

Students will be asked to think critically and creatively, work collaboratively as a team, and apply real-world math and science skills. The team will compete in a regional tournament one Saturday in February. For more information about the First Lego League, please visit the FLL website.

Please note that being a part of this team is a considerable time commitment. You will be required to participate in an independent research study with your teammates. You may need to use part of your lunch or recess time to work on your research project and to program and test missions with your robot. Additional meeting times after school will be scheduled throughout January and February. Due to limited space, once we reach the maximum number of students, a waitlist will be created.

Time Commitment: Weekly Monday meetings starting September 22nd from 3:10–4:00. There will be additional afterschool meetings starting in January to prepare for the competition. Boys may also meet during lunch and PE times.
