Summer Camps: The Fine Print

Admission

All grades listed are for the 2021-2022 school year. Admission is granted to qualified campers in the order in which our database receives your registration. Registration will remain open online until a week prior to the first day of camp unless a registration deadline is specifically stated. Many classes fill up, so we encourage you to enroll early.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are limiting registration to allow for smaller group sizes. Should a camp be full, please join the Waiting List, and we will be in touch if a spot opens up. You may register for another camp or join multiple Waiting Lists for the same weeks.

Campers must be 2 years of age by June 1st, 2021. All campers, PK and above, attending enrichment camps must be potty-trained.

Summer for YK

Day Camp and Crusader Care are open to campers who will be 2 years of age by June 1, 2021. These co-ed camps have both full-day and half-day options. 2-year-old, or Young Knight, campers are not required to be potty-trained.

We have also extended our JumpStart offerings down to Young Knights this year!  Boys who are enrolled in YK at PDS for the 2021-2022 school year may attend the “Yay for YK” JumpStart camp. This camp helps boys get a jump start on the next school year by introducing them to teachers and classmates, getting them excited about classroom learning, and familiarizing them with the PDS campus.

Registration

All registrations will be processed online at pdsmemphis.org/summer and a confirmation email will be sent to you when you have correctly completed the registration process.

Payment

Campers who are students enrolled at PDS will have the option to bill to their student’s account or choose to pay with a credit card. Please note that the billing option will close on May 15th. Campers who are not enrolled at PDS must select the pay by credit card option to enroll in camp. Payment in full is due at the time of registration if the credit card option is used. If the billing option is used, payment in full is due June 1, 2021.

If you need to cancel your camp reservation, a $50 cancellation fee will be deducted from your refund if you selected the credit card payment option. If you chose to bill to your account, you will still be responsible to pay the $50 cancellation fee. This fee will remain on your balance and is due one week prior to the start of the camp.

If registration is deemed to be insufficient one week prior to the first day of camp, PDS reserves the right to cancel that camp and refund your payment in full. Except in cases of illness or emergency that are disclosed to PDS prior to the start of a camp, refunds will not be given after a camp begins. Unfortunately, PDS is unable to prorate a camp fee for any day(s) your child may miss. For COVID-related cancellations and refunds, please refer to the list in the COVID-Related Refunds section.

Family Package & Sibling Discount

PDS offers two summer discounts to accommodate various situations. Both discounts will be reflected on your billing statement.

For families attending four or more weeks of camp, we offer a Family Package Discount.

This discount is based on the number of complete weeks your family has registered for. We consider two half-week options as a full week, even if they are not on the same calendar week. Whether you are registering one child or multiple, the Family Package discount will reflect the total number of full and half week options all children are registered for. The discount is available for those who register before May 15, 2021.

  • 10% off for 4–7 complete weeks of camp
  • 15% off for 8 or more complete weeks of camp

Families enrolling in fewer than 4 full weeks of camp or who register after the May June 15 Family Package cut-off date are eligible for the Sibling Discount. The Sibling Discount is $10 off per family per week.

Camp PDS/Crusader Care Plus Half-Day Enrichment Camp Discount

Campers attending half-day camps may enroll in Camp PDS or Crusader Care for the other half of the day for an additional fee of $85 per week. Campers will be transitioned between camps. YK and PK campers utilizing this option during the afternoon should bring a blanket or mat cover for a rest period.

Extended Care

Before Camp Care is available to registered campers from 7:30-9:00am for an additional charge of $30 per week. Campers must be registered for a camp beginning at 9:00am to attend Before Camp Care.

After Camp Care is available to registered campers from 3:00-5:30pm for an additional charge of $60 per week. Campers must be registered for a camp ending at 3:00pm or 4:00pm to attend After Camp Care. Campers picked up past 5:30pm will be charged a $25 late fee. After 5:35pm, an additional late fee of $5 per minute will apply.

An option for Before and After Camp Care is included on the form when you register for a camp. You may add this option after your original registration here.

After Care and Before Care drop-off and pick-up are located at the main school entrance. Before and After Camp Care is not available for camps off of the PDS campus.

Camp Sibling Stay is available for campers in a full-day camp (ending at 3:00pm) who have a sibling who is enrolled in an afternoon camp (ending at 4:00pm). These campers may join After Camp Care until 4:00pm for an additional charge of $20 per week.

Drop-Off and Dismissal Locations

Registrants will be emailed the week prior to camp to be notified which entrance they should use for camp.

Appropriate entrances will be signposted. For the safety and security of all participants, campers who arrive prior to 10 minutes before the start of camp, will be taken to Before Camp Care and charged the $30 fee for the week. Campers who have not been picked up by 10 minutes after their camp session ends, will be escorted to After Camp Care and charged a $25 drop-in fee.

Lunch and Drinks

Students attending a full-day camp or two half-day sessions will need to bring a sack lunch each day. Snacks and water will be provided.

For students attending both morning and afternoon enrichment offerings, there will be a supervised lunch hour between the sessions for no additional fee, but please check the box on the registration form for the free lunch supervision option so that we can plan adequate supervision. Students will need to supply their own lunch.

Behavior

It is expected that every camper attending PDS Summer Camp follows PDS procedures and standards of behavior. Consideration of others in thought and action is expected. PDS reserves the right to require the withdrawal of any camper who poses a discipline problem or a disruption to the learning process. No refunds will be issued for campers who are asked to withdraw.

Dress

T-shirt, shorts, socks and athletic shoes are most appropriate. Sandals are allowed, but athletic shoes are required for gym and field activities.

COVID-19 Information
