Melissa Smith serves as Chief Information Officer at Presbyterian Day School (PDS) of Memphis, TN. PDS is one of the country’s leading independent schools for boys. As Chief Information Officer at PDS, she is responsible for overseeing the technology department in all aspects including the integration of technology in the classroom. She is also responsible for the library media center.

Melissa graduated cum laude from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She was a homeroom teacher in grades 1st - 3rd in Shelby County Schools before joining the Shelby County School System’s Technology Department.

After completing her student teaching under Jean Nabers at PDS, Melissa knew that she wanted to return to PDS as a part of the faculty. In 2007, Melissa joined the PDS faculty working as the Upper School Technology Coordinator. She was named Chief Information Officer in 2018.

Melissa’s passion for technology integration drives her to continue to develop professionally by regularly attending and presenting at conferences, so that she may inspire and assist the faculty, staff, and boys.

Melissa also enjoys spending time with her family (PDS Art teacher Casey Smith and their daughters Dorothy and Lucy), teaching group fitness, reading, and being a small group youth leader and active member at Germantown United Methodist Church.
