Rusty Shappley

W. V. “Rusty” Shappley, III, M.D., is a physician and partner with The Urology Group, the oldest private urology practice in Memphis. An MUS graduate, Rusty was born and raised in Memphis, prior to leaving for Duke University, where he graduated magna cum laude. He was the school class president at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed urology training at the Harvard Longwood Combined Urology Program. Since returning to Memphis in 2009, he has served on the medical executive committee and governing board for St. Francis Hospital, as well as medical advisory boards for East Memphis Urology Center and St. Francis Surgery Center. He is currently an MUS class representative and serves on the MUS Bold Vision, Bright Future Major Gifts Cabinet. Rusty and his wife Rebekah, a pediatrician and medical director of the LeBonheur Complex Care Clinic, have three children at PDS (Liam 3rd, Silas 1st, Quinn JK). They are active members of Second Presbyterian Church, where Rusty regularly serves as a lay reader.
