First Lego League - Robotics

Do you like Legos, robotics, and coding? If so, join PDS’ Lego Robotics Team!

The First Lego League allows 5th and 6th graders to design, build, and program a Lego Prime robot to complete “missions” on a table-top playing field. In addition, each team will research and present on a real-world problem and solution according to the competition theme of the year.

Students will be asked to think critically and creatively, work collaboratively as a team, and apply real-world math and science skills. The team will compete in a regional tournament one Saturday in January at Collierville High School. For more information about First Lego League, please visit the FLL website.

Please note that being a part of this team is a considerable time commitment. You will be required to participate in an independent research study with your teammates. You will need to be able to meet during lunch and recess to complete your research project and to build codes and missions with your robot. Additional meeting times afterschool will be scheduled throughout January. Also, due to limited space, we will close registrations once the maximum number of students is reached.

Schedule: Weekly Monday meetings starting September 30th from 3:10–4:00. There will be additional afterschool meetings starting in January to prepare for the competition. *Boys may also meet during lunch and PE times.
